These courses are for prospective professional dance educators, dancing professionals or existing teachers with the old AISTD, LISTD and FISTD qualifications who need to add the new FDI & CDE qualifications. Most of the course sessions take place with Tutor Virginia Wilkinson who is an Examiner and Assessor. Katy Colegrove is the support tutor for Tap and Modern.

Classes, Lectures, discussion groups and format guidance for all modules. Group workshops, one to one tuition & observation. Highly motivated study with proven results of nearly 100% success in the modules already covered by those registered at Roynon Dance Centre. We currently have over 50 teachers training with us.

Arrangements for tuition may vary between :-

Single "one off" guidance for modules that are not genre specific - for those teachers with a full background knowledge just needing a push in the right direction.
An intense period of study for a teacher needing to start from scratch with an unfamiliar genre study (e.g. wishing to do tap - but never having covered ISTD syllabus work).

We are sensitive to the difficulties faced by some students who need to plan around own teaching timetables and family commitments. We arrange carefully structured training programmes to suit individual requirements.

Many teaching professionals prefer our modular approach to work around their other commitments rather than a strict academic regime. We are however well planned and organised. We plan classes well ahead and often ask our students the most appropriate times for them.

We are a regional centre for the ISTD's APL Courses. Please contact the Education and Training Department at the ISTD for further details of future dates.

Daytime Professional Dance Classes

This is a typical selection of classes during the day and finishing by 3:00pm to allow time to return to your own teaching.

Monday	FDI Tap : Advanced 1 Tap
Tuesday	Licentiate : Fellowship : CDE Units 6 and 7
Wednesday	FDI Modern : Advanced 1 Modern : Advanced 2 Ballet : FDI Ballet : Guidance on Contextual Studies & Teaching Skills
Friday	Open Professional Ballet : Advanced 2 Tap : Health & Safety or Lifespan

Private lessons can be taken as early as 8:30am on some days.

There are also classes in the evenings and on Saturdays for grades and major (vocational grades) syllabus work.

Foundation in Dance Instruction

These professional courses enable the students to teach dancing professionally and must to be followed by Certification (CDE) to gain a teaching qualification.

FDI Ballet Course

The instruction is graded and follows the ISTD dance syllabus and is taken by qualified FDI/CDE instructors.

FDI Tap Course

Please let as know if you are interested as we have yet to have received enough enquiries to start this course. At the moment student teachers are concentrating of FDI and CDE Ballet and Tap which they consider more essential than National at this time.

These professional courses are for enable the students to become fully qualified dance teachers.

Professional Weekly Classes

These weekly classes are for local teachers and professional.

Professional Ballet

ISTD Syllabus & Non-Syllabus. CDE FDI AISTD ARAD or similar. A class for dance teachers and professional dancers.

These dance classes are for qualified dance teachers who wish to work together to improve or sustain their personal dance technique and to gain from the experience of other teachers. Professional working dancers are also welcome.

The Dance lessons are held at Roynon Dance Centre Southampton.
